He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to comfort all who mourn, to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. Often people are struggling with events or circumstances which seem to overwhelm them. Sometimes the ongoing support of those to whom they are close is sufficient to carry them through a difficult period, but others may welcome the opportunity to talk in more depth about the origins of their problems with a Christian counsellor who will help them develop strategies to deal with them.

To meet this need a number of churches in Leicester have joined together and founded INSIGHT, a Christian Counselling Service run by trained Christian counsellors on a voluntary basis. The participating churches are Holy Trinity, New Trinity, and Knighton Evangelical Free Church. INSIGHT is affiliated to the Association of Christian Counsellors, and all its counsellors are accredited by the ACC. It offers counselling free of charge, although donations are welcome to cover costs. INSIGHT has been running since 1996, and many people have found understanding and support from the counsellors who work there.
