Appointment of New Vicar
On Sunday 20th July 2008, a letter of appointment was read during the services announcing the appointment of Rev John McGinley as vicar. A service of institution will be conducted by the Bishop on Thursday 29th January 2009 at 7.30 pm at Holy Trinity, Leicester.
Dear Friends,
NEW VICAR
You may recall my letter to you in February indicating that Roger Morgan was retiring as Vicar of Holy Trinity at the end of August 2008. I am now pleased to be able to write to you to announce his successor following an intensive recruitment and selection process involving a wide range of stakeholders.
I am delighted to be able to say that Rev John McGinley will be joining us from the New Year. John is currently Team Rector at Holy Trinity with St John's, Hinckley. I know you will want to take an early opportunity to welcome John, Bridget his wife and their two children and introduce yourself as they begin to make the transition to life in Leicester. In this connection you may well be approached as part of their induction arrangements as we want to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to help John and his family settle into their new community and role.
May I thank you very warmly for your help in praying for this process, and for any other support that you may have been able to offer. May I also place on record my sincere thanks to the members of the PCC Subcommittee who have carried the responsibility for all the PCC arrangements and have done so with real commitment and goodwill. We are also indebted to all the members of the Selection Panel (representatives of the PCC, the Diocese and the Peache Trust) who have not only approached their task prayerfully and constructively, but remained unanimous in their conclusions.
The Churchwardens have formal responsibility for the Church during the transition. They will be working with the PCC to finalise the welcome, installation and induction arrangements. These will be made known as soon as possible. As you may already know, the farewell to Roger and Alison takes place on Sunday 31 August. Our Holy Trinity website will contain all the relevant information and timetable of events as final plans are agreed.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely
RODNEY GREEN
Chair of the Appointment Subcommittee
