Prayer ministry
We are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3.18)
Praise the Lord, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins, and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from
the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
(Psalm 103.2-5)
In addition to offering prayer for healing in the context of the Sunday services, we also offer people the opportunity to come for a more extended time of prayer, usually for 2-3 hours either during the day or in the evening. This time of prayer we call a prayer ministry appointment. Prayer ministry is not a form of counselling; it is intended to facilitate the ongoing relationship between an individual and God, and to act as a kind of review time in which specific life issues or paths may be addressed in greater depth than is normally possible in context of a church service or a cell group meeting. It is perhaps best seen as a form of spiritual direction, in which the Christian life is seen as a journey, and which invites us to submit the whole of our lives, past and present, to the Lord in prayer as part of our own growth and discipleship. People who receive prayer ministry usually find it extremely helpful, and many find that they are released from longstanding patterns of pain or oppression as a result of the prayer time.
Anyone wishing to receive prayer ministry is encouraged to prepare carefully for the appointment
by praying carefully through the Prayer Ministry preparation booklet by Alison Morgan. This is available as a Trinity edition from the church office, or direct from
ReSource. We have found that those who pray through the booklet
over a couple of weeks before their appointment always come with a clearer idea of what they need to bring before God, and get more out of the time as a result.
The booklet covers a wide range of life issues and areas, and is intended as a prompt to your prayers rather than as a comprehensive checklist.
Each appointment is with two members of our prayer ministry team, who are trained and experienced in this ministry, and who will pray with you in complete confidence.
Prayer Ministry is available only to members of cell groups. If you would like to receive prayer ministry the first thing to do is to speak to your cell leader. This ministry is not normally the best way forward for those already receiving professional psychiatric care or counselling
The Prayer Ministry Team is led by Vic Sekasi.
