Diocese of Mt Kilimanjaro (DMK)

The Diocese of Mt Kilimanjaro is Holy Trinity’s ‘link’ diocese.
There are now over 500 ‘Rooted in
Jesus’ groups all over the diocese, working in both Swahili and Masai, with about 5000 people in them. A further 156 groups completed the course in 2007. For more details visit Alison Morgan's website.
Those who coordinate the groups are Michael Samuel in the southern
Kiteto region, Jacob Lihhima in Babati deanery, Isaiah Chambala in
Arusha and the Kilimanjaro deaneries. Their work involves a lot
of travelling and ‘on the hoof’ wisdom.
Bishop Simon Makundi, Stanley Hotay and Isaiah Chambala are all
involved in the work of the church in Arusha which experiences
continuing tension.
Bishop John Hayden works in the south. A Christian college has been
established in Kiteko.
Service books have been translated into Masai for use in the churches.
